Our Step-by-Step Building a home shouldn’t feel like a mystery. Here’s exactly what to expect when you build with Ben Atkinson Homes — from your first phone call to the day you get your keys.
We start with a conversation, not a contract. We’ll talk through your budget, timeline, whether you’re building on your own land or in one of our communities, and which floor plans fit your family’s needs.
If you don’t already own land, we’ll help you evaluate available lots in our communities or discuss buildable land you’re considering. From there, we match you to a floor plan — or discuss custom modifications to fit your lot and lifestyle.
This is where your home becomes yours. You’ll choose finishes, fixtures, cabinetry, flooring, and exterior elevation options. we walk you through every selection while having professional designers involved when needed to make it stress free.
We handle site prep, permitting, connections of all utilities, and coordination with county requirements so you don’t have to navigate red tape yourself.
Construction begins with a foundation carefully engineered for Central Texas soil conditions and built to meet our high standards. From there, framing creates the structural skeleton of your home. At these critical stages, our team personally inspects the work before construction moves forward. For added confidence, both the foundation and framing are also evaluated by an independent, third-party licensed inspector—providing another level of quality assurance from the ground up.
Once framing is complete, licensed trades install plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems. In addition to our inspections, we also use third-party inspectors for quality assurance — it’s the work you won’t see once walls go up, so it’s where quality matters most.
Insulation, drywall, paint, cabinetry, countertops, and flooring bring the interior of your home to life. Energy efficiency is also a priority throughout the building process, which is why we most commonly use spray foam insulation to help create a more comfortable, efficient home year-round.
Before closing, we walk through your entire home with you—reviewing finishes, testing systems, and familiarizing you with the equipment and features throughout your new home. We’ll answer your questions and make sure you understand how everything works, so you can move in with confidence from day one.
You get your keys, and your 3rd-party 10-year structural warranty coverage begins.
Our relationship doesn’t end at closing. We follow up after move-in and remain a point of contact for any warranty questions throughout your coverage period.
